Structural Weldments at Baillie Fabricating and Welding

A structural weldment is more than just an assembly of metal parts—it's the backbone of your project’s stability and success. At Baillie Fabricating and Welding, our team of certified expert welders brings years of experience to the table, delivering precision-crafted structural weldments tailored to your unique needs.

Our Comprehensive Services

At Baillie Fab, we understand that fabrication is only one part of your project’s journey. That’s why we go beyond just welding. From guiding you in selecting the right welding techniques to connecting you with structural engineers, we’re here to support every phase of your project to ensure seamless success.

Our Experience With Weldments

While all structural weldments have the same general purpose, there are countless different industries and applications. At Baillie Fab, we specialize in smaller-scale projects, such as frameworks for machinery, bases, and frames, often used in the packaging industry.

The structural elements involved in these projects usually include angles, I beams, tubes, or even just heavy plates. Many of our structural weldments utilize both welded connections and structural fasteners in some combination, allowing more flexibility. While the engineering specifics of these decisions are up to you, our skilled team can help make sure everything is executed to perfection.

Why Weldments Are Easier With Baillie Fab

We build structural weldments to customers’ provided engineered drawings, and we require drawings to have an engineering stamp. But if your drawing doesn’t yet have a stamp, or you need some advice, there are multiple ways that Baillie Fab can help:

We can offer suggestions for welding techniques and weld joint design: We offer design for manufacturing (DfM) tips in many of the areas we work in, and structural weldments are no different. We think of this as “real-world design assistance,” but this is distinct from engineering help. Customers may come in with a design for a frame, and ask for suggestions as part of our broader welding services. These questions are typically about making a weld joint configuration stronger or more cost-effective to produce. If customers agree to these suggestions, we can arrange a structural analysis and weld procedure test to confirm satisfactory weld qualifications.

We can connect you with our structural engineering partners: Most structural weldments come to us through pre-engineered drawings, and this is the simplest way to work with us. However, if customers do need engineering help, we can connect you with an engineer that can evaluate your designs to ensure they meet the correct standards.

What Sets Our Shop Apart

At Baillie Fab, we take pride in the fabrication of every product we make.

Experienced welders: Our expert team of welders has extensive experience and we can certify them in the specific procedure needed for your project.  Occasionally customers come to us with weldments that have unique characteristics in materials and joint configurations.  Some customers want to be sure that the welder understands this specific procedure, and in that case we can get a weld certification..

Provide final assembly and machining after welding: By working with us for final services, you can not only simplify your project, you can save both time and money. Because some structural weldments will require a lot of material to be welded, that welded material may require machining. We can machine the weldment in-house or send it out to be machined at one of our trusted vendors to remove distortion. This is one of the major benefits of working with a welding and fabrication shop like ours.
